Purchasing Does & Bucks from our farm
Along with some mature animals we offer several kids for sale each spring. Buyers are encouraged to reserve kids in advance. A $50.00 down-payment is required to reserve a kid or secure a doe. Reserves are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, according to the current sales lists. Buyers will be asked for a 2nd choice, in the case a buyer's first choice is not available or is retained by the farm. Should both the 1st and 2nd choice be unavailable, the buyer will have the option of a refund or choosing another kid.

The buyer is asked to notice that the farm has the option to retain doelings or bucklings as stated on the sales list. We also reserve the right to refuse sale of service to anyone for any reason.

Purchasing Wethers

Wether reservations are gladly accepted for spring. However, we ask that reservations are not made on a specific breeding. We wether all bucklings at 3 weeks of age unless they have been reserved as a buck. We then call those buyers who reserved wethers in the order reservations were made. We employ a first come - first choice policy with wethers. Buyers must respond with a decision within 1 week of notification. Buyers that fail to respond will lose their reservation. Payment in full is expected at the time of choice.

We believe goats do infinitly better with a goat "buddy", both as a working pack goat and as a family pet. We strongly encourage wethers to go as pairs and so we offer a 10% discount for purchasing 2 or more wethers.

Getting your goat to you
The buyer has several options for getting their animal. We will hold a reserved kid at the farm for pick-up until the kid is 12 weeks old; if the buyer has not picked up or made arrangements for transporting the kid by that time, the kid will be put back on the sales list and the down-payment will be retained by the farm.

We show our goats extensively in the summer season throughout the Northwest. We will gladly transport a reserved kid or doe to a show we're attending - free of charge- for the buyer to pick up at the show grounds. If the buyer fails to pick up a goat at a show, the animal will be placed back on the sales list and the down-payment will be retained by the farm.

Goats will also be flown to their new homes at the buyers expense. We will transport an animal to the Missoula Airport, free of charge, but the buyer is expected to arrange any shipping paperwork, containers and costs.

All animals not picked up at the farm must have a health certificate for legal transport. We will take the goat to our vet (R.J. Brophy, DVM of Hamilton, Montana) at the cost of the certificate ($25.00) or at the request of the buyer we will transport the animal to a different vet (within a 35 mile radius) at the cost of the certificate plus $25.00. The buyer is expected to send the cost of the health certificate with their payment.

We run a disease-prevention program to insure that our stock is a healthy addition to any herd. Kids are all given their first vaccinations and the dam is treated with Bo-Se in the last trimester of pregnancy. Kids are raised on pasturized milk.

We hope tht all buyers will be happy with their purchases. However, except in exceptional cases, all sales are final. Exceptional cases are considered to be an inherited or genetic disease which will shorten a goat's natural life or an injury that occurred while the goat was in our care.

We take pride in each animal we sell and wish the very best to the buyer. We hope to see Echo Ridge Farm's bloodlines in the show ring for many years to come.
